The Jamaica Railway accepted stamped parcels as part of its mail service. Parcel rates were a function of weight and distance traveled. The rate schedule to the right shows the parcel rates in effect through January 11, 1920. The note at the bottom of the schedule indicates that all rates were doubled after this date.
Although the railway ceased to accept letter mail after December 31, 1924, parcels continued to be accepted for a few more years. The rate schedule to the right shows the parcel rates in effect in 1926. The base rates differ from the schedule above by 100% plus one penny.
High denomination stamps and multiples which do not comprise a letter rate and which bear a Jamaica Railway cancel were most likely affixed to parcels. Examples of such stamps and multiples appear below.
