Postcard of Richmond Station in 1905

Black and white postcard of the Richmond railway station circa 1905

The panoramic view shows this station to be adjacent to a thiving banana plantation.

The railway provided a quick and safe means of delivering bananas to the United Fruit ships in Port Antonio. By the early twentieth century, bananas had displaced sugar as the leading export crop.
