J amaica Government Railway stations could send inland mail postage free if it related to official business. Mail originating from stations would occasionally be datestamped on the reverse with the station's datestamp.   Examples of such mail are shown below.   To view the other side of each cover place the cursor over the image.


O.H.M.S. cover from Catadupa to Kingston dated Nov. 2, 1910 bearing Catadupa railway datestamp on reverse and Kingston double ring cds arrival.

O.H.M.S. cover from May Pen to Kingston dated Oct. 8, 1923 bearing May Pen railway datestamp and Kingston Empire Exhibition machine cancel arrival of same date on reverse.

Official Jamaica Railway cover to Mandeville dated April 24, 1947 with a Williamsfield railway datestamp to indicate its origin. T.P.O. datestamp of April 25 at top and Mandeville arrival datestamp of same date on reverse. The Jamaica Railway continued to handle its own official mail after the railway station postal system was eliminated on Dec. 31, 1924.
